After a successful Tregaron Freeride race Brianne Collective brought us the fastest event of the BDSL calendar. A fast straight-away with a technical chicane means tight racing is guaranteed. Continue reading “Bleek Race 2018”

As that 6am alarm goes berserk, South Down Shredder riders roll ourselves out of bed and down to our backyard, Beachy Head. Boards and skate gear packed, coffee in hand, we all gather together in the car park before the corner for a morning of hanging out with friends and skating. This is what makes us a team, formed only 3 years ago with a handful of longboarding enthusiasts. We slowly grew to what we are now – a team of 8 skaters doing either luge or stand up.
Beachy Head is the ideal place in the morning to learn to skate or just send it. We often do full long pack/follow runs with up lifts, or just practice sliding just before the corner. Traffic can be spotted from a long distance so for new riders coming to join us they feel at ease on the hill. This is our home and our training ground and many riders from all over come and join us.
Once again the Brianne Collective did us all proud at this year’s Tregaron Freeride and we saw some of the best in UK’s downhill skateboarding, luge and even turtle and trike! This year’s event also counted as a National Race in the BDSL calendar. Some great photos of the Tregaron event by Kev Hurdle are featured. Continue reading “Tregaron Freeride 2018”
The first Gurston date has been released which brings stoke to both luge and stand up boarders. Thrill Magazine will be represented, as usual by our editor, Sabina Edwards, who will be giving the luge a go. Last year’s streetluge has been captured in this compilation edit by Gareth Chamberlain and you can find out more by visiting Team GB Streetluge. Continue reading “Video : ‘Team GB Streetluge’”
‘Ride the Dragon’, a longboarding event held on a super gnarly uphill car climb circuit in Pontrhydfendigaid, Wales was hosted by Dangerous Decks and 2014’s event was certainly one to remember. If the first one wasn’t gnarly enough already, the track boasted a few more corners than previously, with significantly more gradient and twice as much gnar. The track is truly brutal; on your body, your mind and your gear. Only us eccentric Brits would take on such a challenge. The video says it all really. Carnage!
